Shock wave reflection phenomena studied by numerical and experimental methods; numerical simulation of hydrodynamic flows, of shock and blast waves interacting with structures; deformation of structures impulsively loaded by blast waves from experimental and accidental explosions.
Alex has been interested in rockets and explosives since childhood. He decided to make a career of such things after seeing the pictures on John Dewey's office walls. He is an avid rock and mountain climber and likes to design, build and shoot yew wood longbows. He currently lives in Sooke with his girlfriend, and an Alaskan Malamute, close to the land in a small house in the forest.
